Volodymyr Omelchenko, the Director of Energy Programs at the Razumkov Center, told this on Espreso TV.“The Russians deliberately staged this sabotage, this blackmail, to turn lower risks into a higher probability of a nuclear accident, claiming they are supposedly ensuring safety. This is a purely KGB-style trick, which unfortunately many fall for. We must not give in to this information psy-op. But we also cannot relax, because if they connect the Zaporizhzhia NPP to their power grid, the risks of an accident will increase,” Omelchenko stressed.According to the Director of Energy Programs at the Razumkov Center, if the Russians connect the Zaporizhzhia NPP to their power grid, they will gain a trump card to blackmail Ukraine and all of Europe with a nuclear threat.“We must do everything to prevent the Russians from connecting the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to their power system. It is even necessary to take the required technical and military measures to stop this. A plant operating under terrorist control is more dangerous than when it is in a cold shutdown. In other words, they want to create an even greater danger than exists now — that is their goal,” Omelchenko concluded.Russia's attack on the power substation in Slavutych is seen as a tactic to strong-arm Ukraine into restarting the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
