Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Ukrainian MP and former head of the Ukrainian Security Service, stated this on Espreso TV."Relations between Washington and Minsk were lost, and now the United States, as a global player, is nevertheless trying to introduce changes in its relations with Belarus. As of today, there is a list of political and legal demands from the U.S. Lukashenko must release a certain number of detained political prisoners. I will remind you that among those detained were U.S. citizens, whom Washington freed by putting pressure on Lukashenko. Lukashenko must also cease his harsh actions against the Belarusian opposition. In response, the American side is easing sanctions on the BELAVIA airline. For Russia, this will not mean that it can obtain American spare parts for BOEING or for any other aircraft; that is not the case at all," the MP noted. In his opinion, the U.S. political demands on Lukashenko will proceed step by step. The next possible step from the American administration is the gradual restoration of embassy operations and diplomatic relations. If the Lukashenko regime gradually moves to meet these demands, then there may also be economic relaxations."This will also be done in order to gradually pull Belarus away from Russia. Likewise, it's not just about China being the main player in matters concerning Belarus, but also for the U.S. and President Trump to have opportunities to influence Belarus and Lukashenko himself. That is why Trump called Lukashenko and established such personal contact. What comes next? It really depends on Lukashenko, on how ready Belarus and he are to meet the American political demands that have been formulated," Nalyvaichenko commented. On September 11, U.S. Special Representative John Coale met with the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and announced that Washington is lifting sanctions on the Belavia airline.
