The Latvian Defense Ministry stated this.Defense Minister Andris Spruds noted that Latvia will continue to support Ukraine and its efforts to defend the country for as long as needed. He said he was confident that Latvia’s Patria armored personnel carriers would help Ukraine’s Armed Forces fight the aggressor and added that this was also an opportunity to develop Latvia’s defense industry by testing locally produced vehicles for strength and combat readiness in real battlefield conditions.Latvia will supply Ukraine with a total of 42 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers and other military equipment. The Defense Ministry stresses that delivering these vehicles to Ukraine will not affect the needs or operational capabilities of the National Armed Forces. In July, during her visit to Kyiv, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa handed over the first batch of 15 Patria armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. In April, Latvia - which co-chairs the so-called “drone coalition” within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group together with the United Kingdom - announced the delivery of 1,500 drones to Ukraine.
