State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko stated this on Espreso TV.“Ukraine's State Border Guard Service does not maintain statistical records of border crossings by age category, as this is not a requirement. However, at each checkpoint, we do monitor the general categories of citizens crossing the border. I can say that the category of men permitted to cross the border under martial law since August 28 does not dominate the flow of traffic.Reports spread by Russian propaganda claiming that Ukrainian men under 22 are fleeing the country en masse, ‘storming’ the border, and escaping are false. Since August 28, Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 have been crossing the border to leave Ukraine, but they are also crossing to enter Ukraine. This happens daily. Therefore, this age group has not had a significant impact on outbound border traffic,” Demchenko said. The spokesperson also commented on data from Polish border guards, which reported that 10,000 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 had crossed the border leaving Ukraine since August 28.“If Polish border guards are able to keep such records, perhaps manually, then that is their own methodology. I must emphasize again that Ukraine's State Border Guard Service does not compile statistics by age category,” he added. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution allowing men aged 18 to 22 to cross the state border; it has been in effect since August 28.
