Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for Occupation Studies and former advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, shared the information on Espreso TV.“Russian occupiers have driven Donetsk to madness. Yet we are not doing enough, not drawing attention, and not using our public leverage. For example, last week there was a major meeting held by the so-called Donetsk People's Republic Ministry of Education. The main issue was not even teaching, but ensuring that children have water and sanitation in schools, since water is needed not just for drinking, but for various other processes as well.At this meeting, they mentioned that there are cholera cases in Donetsk schools, which, of course, are not publicly reported. This means it is not the only infectious disease spreading there. If someone hides such a disease outbreak, we understand the child mortality it can primarily cause,” Andriushchenko emphasized. The head of the Center for Occupation Studies stressed that the world needs to be informed about life under Russian occupation.“When these issues are reported, the international community reacts quite strongly, and ultimately the Russians are forced to take some action in the occupied territories, because they really dislike it when such civilian stories start spreading across Europe or the U.S. media,” Andriushchenko added.
