Oleksandr Fediienko, lawmaker and member of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, stated this on Espreso TV."The only legislative body in Ukraine, according to the Constitution, is the parliament. In the event it is struck and deputies are absent, the country will be left without a legislative body and the legal mechanisms to pass any changes to legislation," Fediienko explained.According to the MP, there is no legal mechanism for the parliament to work remotely. This is clearly defined in the Constitution, which specifies how and where legislative decisions must be made. This is also regulated by relevant laws, the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada, and the Law on the Status of a People's Deputy."Many lawmakers are concerned about this situation, afraid to come to the chamber due to the threat of a missile strike or other attack. But we are the same soldiers, just on the legislative front. We must pass laws. I understand all the danger and risks, but it is my job, my duty, to be in parliament and pass laws, especially those needed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Fediienko noted. The member of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence added that partners are helping Ukraine strengthen its air defense."But after the Russian missile strike on the Cabinet of Ministers building, our partners should realize that similar strikes could be carried out on government buildings in Poland or Romania—it's only a matter of time. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen our air defense and improve cooperation in the sphere of air protection. Our task is to minimize the risk of air strikes as much as possible, both on our territory and on the territories of neighboring countries," Fediienko emphasized.Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski rejected the suggestion that the country's air defense was unprepared for the Russian drone attack on September 10. According to him, if it had happened in Ukraine, its performance would have been considered a success.
