Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi, a reserve officer of the Ukrainian Air Force and deputy director general of an EW equipment manufacturer, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.“First of all, to solve the problem of defective FPV drones, an engineering center needs to be created. This center should conduct a qualitative analysis of any weapons used by Russia and the Ukrainian Armed Forces, then formulate a clear need and long-term perspective for their use. I always cite the example of the United States, where the F-16 is made by Lockheed Martin and the F-14 by Boeing. Both are implemented in a unified strategy. Here, we need to talk about requirements for weapons based on tactical needs rather than technical specifications — what this drone should actually do. This is the main thing. From this, a high-quality technical task will be formed, which manufacturers will implement, knowing it meets the needs of the Armed Forces and will be purchased,” Khrapchynskyi explained. The expert emphasized that electronic warfare (EW) capabilities must also be considered. Units should receive EW tools tailored to the tasks they are assigned.“This kind of synergy is key to addressing the problem of defective drones in state procurement. Modular systems allow units to assemble the weapons they need for different purposes. For example, if a unit requires a tool in the rear for strategic tasks, EW systems can be configured with specific antennas and jamming units. This ensures that weapons are used effectively, rather than sitting idle in warehouses because enemy tactics have changed,” he explained.
