Olha Popovych, the editor of the annual Ukrainian Almanac, stated this on Espreso TV."With his vetoes, Karol Nawrocki can harm Poland's economy. It should be noted that Nawrocki is a humanitarian, so he understands humanitarian issues well; this is his main focus during his presidency. Regarding the economy, in my opinion, populist tones will prevail. I would be cautious about this if I were a Polish citizen and voting for Karol Nawrocki," commented the political analyst.In her opinion, Karol Nawrocki may veto legislative acts important for the Polish economy only because they were passed by the majority coalition of liberal forces."We already see from Karol Nawrocki's first vetoes that he is ready to veto bills that economists rationally explain should be signed to come into effect," Popovych noted.Earlier, Polish President Karol Nawrocki did not sign a law that provides social benefits and free medical care to Ukrainian citizens who are not working. Currently, 78% of Ukrainians who fled to Poland due to the war and have temporary protection status are employed, so the veto will only affect the most vulnerable, such as women with small children, the expert believes.Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that Nawrocki's veto on the law about social benefits and free medical care for Ukrainian refugees who are not working could have devastating consequences for Polish companies.After Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the law on aid to Ukrainian refugees who are not working, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Warsaw is currently working on regulating the status of Ukrainians.
