This opinion was voiced on Espreso TV by Russian opposition politician Mark Feygin in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi on the program Studio West.“As for the Kremlin’s determination, the confidence it gains from Trump’s weakness — European countries are following Trump’s lead. Despite their principled stance and unwillingness to concede to Putin, they are still waiting for Trump’s initiative, and that is sad. They are not taking responsibility themselves, but lining up and waiting for the U.S., Trump and his administration to mature into a more productive policy," he said."This undoubtedly creates a threat. It cannot be said that Moscow is about to open a second front immediately — no, that’s not the case. But it does mean Moscow has a wider range of pressure,” the opposition politician noted.According to him, the Zapad-2025 exercises will soon be held in Belarus. These are standard annual drills that Moscow and Minsk conduct on the western border.“It’s a demonstration of readiness to carry out one of their plans — whether in the Suwałki Corridor, against Chisinau from Tiraspol, or in the Baltic states to cause problems — they exist there: Daugavpils, Narva, from Kaliningrad toward Klaipeda, and so on. They can do anything, because this is a demonstration of readiness,” he explained.“And how does the West, primarily the U.S., respond? It keeps talking about some negotiations, about continuing talks, about progress, even minimal. Nothing is happening. And if Witkoff goes to Putin again — nothing will change. Trump, followed by the European countries, has abandoned the idea of applying military pressure on Moscow. This includes troop deployments, which Europeans initially proposed: French President Macron raised this even without waiting for a peace deal. Now Britain, France, and ten other countries are conditioning the deployment of their troops in Ukraine on the signing of a peace agreement,” Feygin commented. The politician stressed that the issue of a no-fly zone over Ukraine is constantly resurfacing, in order to protect the country from endless strikes given the lack of parity with Moscow in ballistics and missiles.“Now the White House, in an attempt to impress Moscow, has proposed giving Ukraine ERAM missiles worth $850 million, paid for by Europeans. But we understand nothing like this will actually happen. This is more talk — we do not see real action. And Putin, seeing all this, may be planning which target in Europe to choose after Ukraine. Trump’s weakness motivates Putin even more, as he realizes there will be no response if he acts on such a plan,” Feygin concluded.
