He said this during a meeting with journalists, RBC-Ukraine reports.Answering questions about how he views security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5, and whether Ukraine is ready to give up joining the Alliance in exchange for such guarantees, Zelenskyy stressed that the U.S. position remains the same."The U.S. policy is not to take Ukraine into NATO. This has been the case since before President Trump. There is nothing new here. They are clear about this. And they are clear that they support Ukraine being in the European Union. These are their two positions. That is why they say: similar to Article 5, but it must be a strong decision. Israel has the proper guarantees. If there are strong guarantees from the U.S., then they work," the president said.At the same time, Zelenskyy pointed out that NATO’s Secretary General sent a clear signal: Russia has no right to veto Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance."This is a decision of the allies, and we share this view," he added. On August 21, Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio will meet with European leaders to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
