Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram that he was expecting an intelligence briefing on Russia’s current intentions and its preparations for the Alaska summit. “The stakes are truly high. The key is for this meeting to open the way to a genuine path toward a just peace and substantive talks between leaders in a trilateral format: Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian side,” Zelenskyy noted.The Ukrainian president underscored that it is time to end the war, and Moscow must take the necessary steps.“We are counting on America. Ready, as always, to work as productively as possible,” the president concluded.Earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the meeting with the Russian dictator in Alaska would give Donald Trump “an opportunity to look Putin in the eye and see the progress” that can be achieved toward a settlement in Ukraine.Pro-Ukraine demonstrations are happening in Anchorage, Alaska's biggest city, where U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin are set to meet.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French leader Emmanuel Macron agreed to meet after the Alaska summit between Trump and Putin.Trump announced that territorial exchanges would be discussed at the meeting with Putin, but stressed that the decision must be made by Ukraine.
