The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reported on August 13.In July 2025, at least 1,674 civilian casualties were recorded in Ukraine — 286 killed and 1,388 injured — the highest monthly figure since May 2022 and 22.5% higher than in July 2024.The increase was driven mainly by active fighting along the front line and the mass use of aerial bombs, which caused more than twice as many casualties as in June.Although long-range missile and loitering munition strikes became somewhat less intense, they still accounted for nearly 40% of all casualties, particularly in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. Another 24% of casualties came from short-range drone attacks. The vast majority of civilian casualties (98%) occurred in areas controlled by the Government of Ukraine. Civilian casualties were recorded across 18 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv.In June, the UN recorded a sharp rise in crimes against Ukrainian children.
