The attack was confirmed by the region’s governor, Andrey Bocharov. According to him, Russian air defense systems “operated as expected” and allegedly shot down all incoming drones aimed at facilities in the Volgograd region.“Air defense units of the Russian Ministry of Defense are operating routinely. No casualties were reported. However, falling drone debris disrupted the power supply to the railway’s overhead contact system in the Zhutnevyi district,” Bocharov said.He added that emergency crews and repair specialists are currently on the scene assessing the damage and working to mitigate the impact of the incident.Local residents reported that a fire broke out at the power substation following the attack. Footage shared on social media appears to show large plumes of black smoke rising into the night sky. The videos suggest the damaged facility was responsible for powering nearby railway lines.Telegram channel Exilenova+ described the strike as part of a “systematic effort to disrupt rail logistics” used by the Russian military to move troops.During the day of July 26, the Defense Forces eliminated 920 Russian soldiers and hundreds of units of Russian equipment on the Russian-Ukrainian front.
