Former U.S. National Security Council Director for Europe and Eurasia, diplomat Matthew Bryza, shared his opinion on Espreso TV."My expectation is that the time will come when President Trump finally realizes that President Putin has been manipulating him and that Putin has no intention of negotiating a peaceful end to the war, because he cannot," Bryza said.The diplomat added that Putin has not achieved any real victory on the battlefield, paying for it with hundreds of thousands of lives over the past year."He’s gained maybe 1% more territory, perhaps a little more, in Ukraine. He has achieved none of his regime change goals. He will never achieve the goal of making Ukraine cease to exist, and he will never achieve the goal of forcing NATO to pull back from Eastern Europe. Those were his objectives. These are the reasons he was willing to sacrifice so many Russian and Ukrainian lives," the diplomat said.Bryza added that Putin now retooled his entire economy to continue waging war.  "I think President Trump is finally realizing, especially after Putin continued his bombardments on your country, as you just noted, that Putin is simply flattering him and playing him for a fool.
