Volodymyr Khandohiy, the President of the Ukrainian Association of Foreign Policy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, stated this on Espreso TV.“Trump has once again given Putin carte blanche. Trump has once again demonstrated that, for now, he is still playing on the side of the aggressor. Some say that there has been some fundamental change in the U.S. position, and these 50 days are evidence of that. I don’t think that’s quite the case, or rather, not the case at all. You know, to set an ultimatum for 50 days—what does that mean? It means giving the aggressor free rein, allowing him to do whatever he wants during those 50 days, and then who knows what will happen,” he said.Volodymyr Khandohiy noted that we will have to see what happens after these 50 days that Trump has given Putin. In the diplomat’s opinion, to say that the President of the United States is disappointed in the Russian dictator is an understatement.“I think that sensible observers and politicians are disappointed that Trump is disappointed. At the very least, there should have been a tougher political stance declared, not just: ‘I’m disappointed, so let him do whatever he wants for 50 more days, and then I’ll see.’ Therefore, it seems to me that this step by Trump, on the one hand, could be perceived as a certain move toward Ukraine, toward supporting Ukraine. But in reality, we’ll have to wait and see the final result,” Volodymyr Khandohiy added.
