Ukraine's Security Service reported the information on its Telegram channel. The Security Service has gathered evidence against one of the leaders of the Russian Armed Forces who gave the order for an airstrike on Odesa’s civilian infrastructure on April 29, 2024. As a result of this attack, eight people were killed, including a child, and 23 were injured.According to the case materials, the attack was commanded by Colonel Yevgeny Lederer, who headed the 12th Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces. The investigation established that he specifically ordered the use of an Iskander-M ballistic missile with a cluster warhead against Odesa’s civilian infrastructure.“The ballistic missile was launched from the area of the village of Novoselivske, located in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Within a few minutes, the munition exploded in the air over Odesa, and fragments of the missile struck a large area. One of Odesa’s recreational zones, a popular place for locals to relax, was hit,” the statement says. The SBU has notified Lederer in absentia of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). It is noted that necessary measures are currently being taken to bring the suspect to justice. On July 11, the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office also announced in absentia that Sergey Kurchenko and other Russian officials are suspected of illegally seizing industrial enterprises in the temporarily occupied territories.
