For this, it is important that this person is perceived positively by them,” he said.Shamshur added that there is currently a violation of procedure.“First, there should be the consent of the American side, and only then is a decree issued and the candidacy publicly announced. Now we see that the candidacy of Umerov is being considered, and it can be assumed that it was discussed during conversations between the two presidents. But this is a departure from the usual procedure. Also, today I heard the argument that Umerov is strong in negotiations. If there is an opinion that the ambassador’s role is only about negotiations, that is not the main function of an ambassador,” the diplomat said.He noted that, when it comes to the American track, it is important to understand that many issues are resolved by Americans through their embassy in Kyiv.“That’s why the new ambassador must prove that he is interesting and useful to Americans for communication with Kyiv and for solving problems. The main thing, in my opinion, is that under the current circumstances, this ambassador must be a good communicator.
