In an exclusive interview with Newsmax, Zelenskyy highlighted that during the recent visit of retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, Russian forces refrained from launching major attacks on the Ukrainian capital for two consecutive nights. “Gen. Kellogg arrived and there were no massive bombings for two nights in a row,” Zelenskyy told Newsmax’s Shelby Wilder. “Even people are already joking about it, saying that we should give Gen. Kellogg a Ukrainian passport and leave him here and that Americans should come to us more often because then Russia would bomb less.”The visit came after President Donald Trump announced plans to rearm Ukraine and warned Russia of “very severe tariffs” if the war does not end within 50 days. Russia quickly dismissed Trump’s ultimatum, with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov calling such demands “unacceptable.”Zelenskyy argued that Putin’s restraint during American visits reveals a deeper fear of U.S. influence. “This means one thing: Putin is afraid of America. I've been saying this all along... And I am sure of it,” he said.Comparing U.S. leadership, Zelenskyy expressed hope that Trump’s approach could bring the war to an end, noting that President Biden “was not able to end this war.” He added, “I am confident that President Trump can do it. I think that will be the main difference.”On July 14, U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg arrived in Ukraine for a visit. In Kyiv, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Defense Intelligence Chief Kyrylo Budanov, and other officials.U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, announced agreements regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
