Ukrainian diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi shared this opinion live on Espreso TV."Trump's comment about hitting Moscow, in my view, wasn’t a request, it was a test. A test of whether Ukraine could behave as irresponsibly as Putin, who strikes anywhere without thinking. I’ve often seen Trump do this, he floats an idea to see the reaction. The response should’ve been clear: if we strike, it’ll be at legal military targets because only those are fair game," Bezsmertnyi said.He believes the media fuss around this shows the issue was raised selectively, as a form of information pressure, nothing more and nothing less."And the whole conversation circles around this idea: if, God forbid, Ukraine does strike, it could count not only on Javelins, F-16s, Patriot systems, HIMARS, and Abrams, but maybe even Tomahawks. But think about it, if you compare how Trump and Biden handled this, considering all this indecisiveness, honestly, there's no real difference. Let’s remember how long it took us to move from Javelins to F-16s and Patriots. It'll be the same with Tomahawks, JASSMs, and other modern weapons," the diplomat added.Bezsmertnyi said Trump was mainly talking about defense, air defense systems, missile defense, missiles for these systems, and tools to fight drones. As for long-range offensive weapons, he said, that’s still just talk for now.On July 15, The Financial Times, citing sources, reported that Donald Trump had privately urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to step up strikes deep inside Russian territory, even asking if Kyiv could hit Moscow.
