Roman Bezsmertnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to Belarus in 2010–2011, said on Espreso TV.“This is the key issue now because it violates the nuclear non-proliferation treaty,” he noted, commenting on the recent meeting between U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and Belarusian self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko.According to Bezsmertnyi, while the U.S. acts against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, it also cannot allow nuclear weapons to appear in Belarus, right on the doorstep of Central European nations.“That’s why Lukashenko was told very clearly: ‘This is unacceptable to the U.S.’ Now the Belarusian führer must sit and think what he can do in this situation,” Bezsmertnyi said.On June 21, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg met Lukashenko in Minsk. Kellogg said they discussed, among other things, Russia’s war against Ukraine.
