UK Defense Intelligence reports. Experts analyzed Ukraine’s June 27, 2025, strike on the Marinovka airfield in Volgograd region, where at least two Su-34 jets were destroyed and two more likely damaged. Although this airfield lies far from the front line, it still suffered the attack. The Su-34s had been relocated there from another base after a previous drone strike, but that did not protect them.“The Su-34 aircraft were dispersed to here from Morozovsk airbase following a Ukrainian UAS strike in August 2024. Despite these dispersal efforts to protect their aircraft, Russian aviation remains vulnerable to Ukrainian Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) attacks,” the report said.Over the same weekend, Ukraine also launched successful UAS attacks on helicopter operations based at Kirovskoye airfield in Crimea, and an artillery ammunition storage facility in Bryansk, RussiaOverall, British intelligence estimates that Russia has lost more than 30 Su-34s and over 135 fixed wing aircraft in the war against Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Special Operations Forces (SSO) successfully destroyed two Russian Su-34 fighter jets and damaged two more in Russia’s Volgograd region.
