Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, founder of the charity fund Let’s Close the Sky of Ukraine and former Deputy Chief of the Ukrainian General Staff, said this on Espreso TV.“Countering these drones technically and organizationally is a complex task, and a critically important one, because the Russians are putting serious effort into upgrading them. The latest Shahed-136MS001 models combine foreign technologies and Russia’s own developments. These are dangerous drones equipped with artificial intelligence, precision systems, and thermal imaging cameras. In a single airstrike, the enemy can launch up to 500 drones and over 50 missiles,” Romanenko said.He added that countering Russian drones is an urgent issue. One of the key efforts is developing fighter drones. Four Ukrainian companies are working on this, along with three international partners.“Anti-drone systems are already in development, fighters that can target both enemy drones and guided aerial bombs, which are even more difficult to intercept,” Romanenko noted.
