Decree No. 439/2025 was published on the president’s website.“For outstanding personal merits in strengthening Ukrainian-Polish international cooperation, supporting Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, I hereby decree: to award the Order of Freedom to Andrzej Duda — President of the Republic of Poland,” the document states.Note: This distinction is the highest state award of Ukraine that can be conferred on foreign nationals.Duda’s statement on new Polish President’s stance toward UkraineDuring a joint press briefing with Zelenskyy, Duda suggested that after taking office, newly elected Polish President Karol Nawrocki might change his rhetoric toward Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.“From the presidential desk, the world looks a bit different than from the position of any other Polish politician, especially a candidate during elections. So, the viewpoint influences the perspective,” Duda emphasized when asked if he had spoken with Nawrocki about Ukraine, particularly regarding the new president’s critical stance on Ukraine’s NATO and EU membership.He said he often meets with Nawrocki when both have time.“We have already had preliminary talks on this topic (about Ukraine),” Duda stressed.He added that we need to wait five weeks until Nawrocki becomes the full-fledged president and takes the first steps regarding relations with Ukraine.On June 10, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski affirmed that Warsaw will continue to support Ukraine following the presidential election victory of Karol Nawrocki.
