Senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Policy, Ian Brzezinski, stated this in an interview with Studio West host Antin Borkovskyi on Espreso TV.“In my personal view, China has crossed a red line. It has sustained Russia’s war economy, and that alone is an act of belligerence against Ukraine and the transatlantic community,” he said. The expert added that Xi Jinping is getting everything he wants.“Russia has become China’s guinea pig. When you look at this war, Russia is testing its military equipment against Western systems, and China is observing and learning. It is studying the performance parameters of Western military hardware, the effectiveness of Western tactics, and the response of Western governments. Second, the war is draining U.S., allied, and European resources. Even our Indo-Pacific partners are affected. It is depleting war reserves, burning through missiles and artillery shells,” Brzezinski noted. He emphasized that this war is also weakening Russia.“Russia has already suffered enormous losses and may soon cross the grim threshold of one million soldiers killed or wounded. This war has given China valuable insight into Western military capabilities and doctrine. It has left the West weaker and Russia even more so. These are significant advantages for China. That is why I find it so astonishing that Russia has allowed itself to be used this way, as a tool for China’s strategic benefit,” the expert concluded.
