Hungarian opposition leader declares referendum on Ukraine failure with falsified results

Péter Magyar, a Hungarian opposition politician and leader of the Tisza party, has declared the government's referendum on Ukraine, organised by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's team, a failure.
Source : Magyar on Facebook, as reported by European Pravda
Details : Magyar stated that no more than 600,000 people took part in the vote and that the results could have been falsified.
"This is the lowest result in the entire history of National Consultations. And this is despite the fact that the campaign lasted several months, with total mobilisation and the burning of tens of billions of state funds," the Tisza leader emphasised.
He also pointed out that no stands were opened and no open meetings were organised for the vote – only letters were sent out, and an expensive advertising campaign was conducted.
Magyar stated that the 10 billion forints (about US$28,600) spent on this referendum could have been used by the state to repair hospitals or modernise the railways.
"The failed, corrupt government is not interested in the real problems of the people and does not dare to look them in the eye. They just write letters," he added.
Background :
- As is known, in March, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced a poll in Hungary on support for Ukraine's membership in the EU. On 19 April, Hungarians began receiving ballots for a national consultation, directly calling on them to vote against it.
- Orbán, by the way, publicly voted against it.
- Recently, Orbán's ally Alexandra Szentkirályi published a short video in which, against the backdrop of a bound man in the boot of a car, she talks about the growing threat of human organ trafficking, human trafficking and drug trafficking if Ukraine joins the EU.
- A few days later, the Hungarian prime minister shared a video calling for opposing Ukraine's accession to the EU, which supposedly shows Hungarians participating in the war in Ukraine.
