Ukraine to present peace roadmap at Istanbul talks – Reuters

The Ukrainian delegation intends to propose a clear roadmap for achieving a sustainable peace settlement during the negotiations with Russia in Istanbul.

Details: Ukraine’s plan envisages the following:
- a complete ceasefire for at least 30 days, followed by a prisoner exchange under the "all for all" formula and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia;
- after that, a meeting is expected between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
The plan also envisions Moscow and Kyiv working together with the US and Europe to agree on terms for fully ending the war.
The document, seen by Reuters, broadly reiterates Ukraine’s previously stated positions, including:
- no restrictions on the Ukrainian Armed Forces after a peace agreement is reached;
- refusal to internationally recognise any territory occupied by Russia;
- payment of reparations to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian document additionally notes that the current front line should serve as the starting point for territorial discussions.
Background:It was previously reported that Ukraine would attend negotiations with Russia in Istanbul on 2 June, with Defence Minister Rustem Umierov leading the Ukrainian delegation.
